It is not a secret that PC-Games are part of the most demanding computer applications and need the full power of the processor. To find out how fast your PC actually is and if your equipment can also fit the next generation of games, 3DMark is the perfect benchmark.
Altogether are six new benchmark tests available which have a run-time round about 15 minutes. Reachable framerates in different resolutions, the synthetic 3D-Speed of teh CPU, Texture-Rendering and Bump-mapping can be checked.
Furthermore the software shows system information, a system diagnosis and the 3D-performance of the CPU and the graphic system. The results are the base of the total points which you can compare to other PCs to check out how good is your System in contrast to others.

3DMark 11 is the standart of the beanchmark tools und is recommended for every Gaming-PC. XP-user have tu use 3DMark06, while Vista and Win7-User with DirectX 9 and DirectX10 should use the older 3Dmark Vantage.

3DMARK vantage is a high end benchmark for your graphic system with support for Direct x11.
When it comes to high requirements from a PC there is nothing more demanding than the world of PC gaming. 3DMARK has ten benchmark test. These test are aimed at putting your system through rigorous test to see how well your pc can handle the High requirements of today's games.
The test are broken down into three categories. Graphics,CPU and Features. Graphics and CPU has two test each which will push both your graphics card and CPU to its limit and recorder the results.
First we will look at the Graphical test the first. The first Graphical test is designed to see how well your system can handle large amounts of statics object, visual effects such as water reflection and refractions to name but a few. The second is designed to test how well your PC can handle moving objects.
I found this to be a bit shocking when I ran this test on my PC at work, the specifications where not that different to my PC at home, however the results where diverse and unexpected for the small differences between the two PCs.
Secondly the CPU test this is designed to test the CPU capability of your PC testing including how well the PC can handle Artificial Intelligence and large amounts of moving and colliding objects.
When I compared the test between my home PC and my PC at work. One being a quad core i500 3.2 GHZ and the other being q9400 quad core 2.6GHZ. The results varied slightly and was insignificant and the increased power made little difference in the test.
Finally we have the six Feature test these test are designed to test the system working as a whole and will include the combination of both Graphics, CPU and memory all working together.
It really became clear when viewing the result from the two PCs after running the test on both PCs.
The results really gave a clear indication as to which system was built more for gaming then the other. This was not really a surprise. The results after the test is complete shows details regarding how many FPS each system ran at during each of the graphical test, along with the overall score the higher the better.
Overall this is a must have for any serious gamer who is looking to get the most out of the PC. The upgrade price is pretty reasonable and most of the time you can get the upgrade from basic to advance for as little as 4.99€.
