Editor's Review

Firefox is a free to download exceedingly popular web browser from Mozilla.

Over the Years Firefox has grown to become one of the leading web browsers on the market, with a horde of extensions freely available there is really no reason why this is not the browser of choice for everyone.

Getting started.

When you first install Firefox, there is a vast array of options and extension to setup and install all depending on your own personal desires and tastes.  You can import your old favourites and bookmark from your old browser during the set-up this makes it easy to access all your favourite web places without having to search for them all over again.

Add-ons.

A web browser is only as effective as the user makes it, and Firefox offers some very advantageous add-ons, but finding the right add-ons to suit your own needs can be difficult and time consuming.

Some of the basic yet functional add-ons we installed to begin with included:

Tab utilities a small add-on that gives you some additional options when opening from bookmarks/History, Home, Address bar and search bar links. This removed the need to open a new tab before trying to open a new web page.

Super start is without a doubt one of the best add-ons we have come across for Firefox. This simple yet effective add-on expands the default start interface of most visited/favourite website and gives the ability to customize the background, text and some more advance option for those who have the ability to write CSS.

Tiles tabs is a functional add-on which allows you to tile your web pages, we found this to be useful when comparing multiple website or transferring data from one to another. With a fully customizable interface, we felt this to be one of the basic must have add-ons.

These were just a handful of our favourites we found to be helpful for doing the basics with Firefox but there are many more add-ons to choose from in which you are sure to find something to suit your own personal desires.

Usage.

So how does Firefox compare to other web browsers when in terms of speed and compatibility? For general browsing, we found Firefox offered a satisfying speed in which many web pages opened at a more than acceptable speed, however the speed in which a web page will open depends on a multitude of factors and Firefox could not be held accountable for some of the slower loading web pages.

Round up.

When comparing Firefox to browser such as Google chrome, internet explorer and opera we found that this was on par with these other browsers and in many cases, we became favourable to the features within Firefox over that of the others.

Best browser ever

Reviewer: matze97 - View all of My Reviews

I have used Mozilla Firefox since 2.0. It has always been the best browser.
Good speed (temporary Chrome and Opera are better, but FF4 will come soon), very stable, safe and there are a lot of addons. They make it a lot easier to use for example a proxy.
Also, Firefox is except of IE the only Browser supporting multi-touch.
I never has any problems with FF (with IE I had a lot), so I really recommend and I'm looking forward to Firefox 4.0
