With Hotspot Shield you can use Wi-Fi Hotspots safely. The tool creates a virtual private network (VPN) that tunnels your internet traffic. All your data will be encrypted, thus, you are protected against hackers. Another great advantage is that it masks your IP address what makes it possible to access Web pages that are blocked in your country.
A slight downside is that the tunnelling process slows down your internet connection. But this is a small price to pay to access sites from abroad and while there is a 5GB/per month transfer limit it's generally enough to get by.
Overall, despite the above limits. Hotspot Shield is a great tool, particularly if like us you like to catch some of the great TV shows from the States.
