In addition, VLC Media Player offers the ability for users to watch the relevant movie while it is being downloaded. Available for all relevant platforms such as Windows (XP/Vista/7), Linux, MacOS X -- and even BeOS and Zaurus!
Arguably the best media player available, and certainly way better than the kludgy behemoth that is Windows Media Player. And now finally "final"!

When it comes to watching your movies and TV shows, media players are neve quite what they seem. Thanks to VLC Media Player a one-stop solution is here. Too many media players rely on a series of add-on codecs, which isn't the most convienient for everyone.
VLC Media Player gets past all of that and supports almost every video file format including, OGG, MP2, MP3, MP4, DivX, DVD. Another great function is the ability to stream media from online.
Because of its open-source foundation, VLC Media Player evolves quickly, with new features and fixes released frequently.
VLC Media Player is a simple program and the limited look of the interface reflects that, especially the Windows version. there are a series of skins available for VLC Media Player, but we found that when a skin is added the program suffers from some unpredictable behaviour.
Although it is a simple, but fantastic media player the simplest of tasks, such as opening a file is slightly problematic as you are presented with a number of 'open' options.
Overall VLC is a great, albeit simple media player and does what most of us want, i.e. play movies! No need for add-on codecs, trying to find them online, etc. which we all know is a real pain. As VLC really does play everything!
The only let down for some may be the lack of interseting interface, but this is a small price to pay for having just one media player that ticks all the boxes when it comes to medai play back.
