The freeware XnView is a utility for viewing and converting graphic files.
XnView contains many of the standard filters, effects and tools of professional graphic software. Beyond image editing, it has tools for web page design and slideshow creation.

XnView is a superb free-ware multi-format graphic tool. It is capable of browsing, viewing and converting a multitude of graphic file formats. The program installs extremely fast and uses little system resources. It is also easy to use and has a layout which is somewhat similar to Windows explorer. Scrolling through the Windows directory is done on the left hand side of the program whilst viewing thumbnails is on the right hand side of the program. This allows you an overview of the images available with the ability to quickly view and select images.
XnView has many features which make it one of the finest free-ware image viewers/managers available. One of the best features that the program has is the built in batch processing tool. The appearance of the application can be changed easily with the option for a Windows XP menu style, skins and options for customizing the layout. XnView is flexible and powerful and can read over 400 different graphic file formats and export about 50 graphic file formats.
A drawback that XnView has is that it can be a bit daunting for a first time user. Even though it has a clear and concise layout there are lots of powerful features for the user to get their head around. Also the program is not free for commercial use. A simpler alternative would be InfranView.
