If you in a foreign place, you can forget about asking local how to get from point A to point B, or even what means of public transportaton to use, as Google Maps can do this for you.
Using the "Where am I" feature you can also see your exact location on a map. Even more interesting, if you are driving you can see if there are any traffic lights ahead, so that you can avoid them!

You can use a Windows Mobile phone with Google Maps as a GPS device, although not with the same accuracy. Also, bear in mind that this is a data intensive application, so it is recommended that you have an unlimited data plan before you start using it!
