WinSCP is an open source free SFTP client, SCP client, FTPS client and FTP client for Windows. Its main function is file transfer between a local and a remote computer. Beyond this, WinSCP offers scripting and basic file manager functionality.
WinSCP makes it possible to use the secure copy protocol with Microsoft Windows. SCP is a protocol that is often used by Unix-like systems in the command line way. WinSCP makes it usable in Windows with a GUI.
A little handy tool, especially when you have Linux computers in your network or something like that.

Winscp is an open source scp client for windows. With support for SFTP and FTP.
With home networks continually growing and the need for cross platform network programs, programs such as Winscp are becoming more and more popular.
Winscp uses 3 types of protocols for transferring these being SFTP,FTP and SCP so what are the differences between them?
SFTP uses secure SSH and usually runs at a slow speed as it sends and receives packets form the host/target machine. SFTP supports transfer resume should the transfer be interrupted can transfer files larger than 4 gigabyte.
FTP uses an optional security of either TLS or SSL and is generally the fastest means to transfer files. FTP supports transfer resuming can support over 4 gigabyte files and requires little configurations usually only login details are required.
SCP is the more secure method of transferring as it encrypts the file before transference begins. SCP does not support the resumption of files as with SCP files transfer can only be interrupted if the session is ended. SCP does not support large files as if is limited by the 32bit boundary. Configuration for SCP is more complex then SFTP and FTP as usually more setting are required to be configured when logging in.
Winscp offers some good speeds and everything you can expect from with a nice graphical interface and drag and drop support. Those of you who have been put off from using SCP due to the knowledge requirements when using the command line interface can rest at ease.
Overall a good solid program I found little wrong in the way of connection speeds most of the time the speeds where only limited by my line.
